P0206: Cylinder 6 fuel injector circuit fault

Cylinder 6 injector circuit malfunction

P0206 in short

P0206 means the engine computer found a fault in the electrical circuit of the cylinder 6 fuel injector. Causes include a failed injector, a wiring fault or an injector driver problem in the computer. Misfire and stalling are possible, so get it checked soon.

The computer switches each injector and watches the circuit. TroubleCodes.net says P0206 is set when it commanded the injector and did not see the expected change in current.

Listed causes are a failed injector, an injector circuit wiring fault and the computer's injector driver. Check service information to see which cylinder is number 6 on your engine.

The Delaware DMV generic code list gives the same title, injector circuit malfunction, cylinder 6.

Start at step 1. Each result tells you what it means and where to go next.

  1. Step 1: Read all codes and note any misfire codes stored with P0206.

    Low riskTool: OBD-II scan tool

  2. Step 2: Have the injector connector, power feed, ground switching, coil resistance and pulse tested (noid light or oscilloscope).

Best left to a shopTool: multimeter, noid light

Warning:Injectors are under fuel pressure and sit near hot parts. Let a shop do it.
