What we can and can't help with
We can help with:
- Mistakes on a page: a wrong cause, test, bulletin, source or severity rating.
- Questions about how a page was put together, or about our methodology.
- Codes or combinations you'd like us to cover.
- Privacy and data requests (see the privacy policy).
- Business and partnership enquiries.
We can't help with:
- Diagnosing your individual car. We can't see, hear or test it, so we don't diagnose specific vehicles by email. A mechanic who can inspect the car can.
- Repair quotes, part recommendations for a specific car, or booking a repair.
If the car is overheating, the check engine light is flashing, you smell fuel, or the brakes or steering feel wrong, don't wait for an email reply: stop driving as soon as it is safe and get it inspected.
Report an error
Mistakes on a diagnostic site matter, so we make reporting them easy. Email us with:
- The page address (for example codemechanic.pro/codes/p0420/).
- What looks wrong, and what you think is right.
- A source if you have one: a manual page, a bulletin number, a link.
- Your car's year, make, model and engine if it matters. Please don't send your VIN; we don't need it.
The "Report an error" link at the foot of every page brings you back here.
What happens next
- Severity reports (a Stop or Inspect soon call, or a rule that raises severity) are reviewed within 48 hours. While we look, we may make the rating more cautious, never less.
- Other errors (causes, tests, bulletins, specifications) are reviewed on a regular schedule.
- Material corrections are listed in the corrections log with the date, the change and the reason. How we source and rate pages is explained on the methodology page.
We use your email address only to reply about your message. See the privacy policy.
