Audi OBD2 codes
Codes where we have reviewed, vehicle-specific evidence for this make.
Audi's notes cover a short low fuel pressure reading after long idling on some 2013 models, a transmission warning tied to the fluid on the 2012 and 2013 A6, and secondary air codes on several V6 and V8 models where how the codes stored points to a valve on one bank or the shared vacuum solenoid. We have not confirmed these bulletins are still current.
P0087 from fuel vapour in the rail in extreme heat
Audi bulletin 01137220332111 says that on some 2013 models, including the A4, A5, A6, allroad and Q5, long idling or stop-and-go driving in extreme heat can vaporise fuel in the rail and set P0087 briefly. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0088 with an engine that will not start
Audi bulletin 24-09-08 covers a no-start on some 2007 to 2009 petrol models, including the Q7, where rail pressure too low or too high and low-side regulation codes such as P0088 may be logged. On 2009 to 2010 TDI models the code notes point to contaminated or wrong fuel instead. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0234 as a software false alarm on some Audi models
Audi bulletin A011330 says P0234 on the 2009 to 2012 A4, A5 and Q5 can be set by the software alone when no other codes are stored. It can also have a real cause, usually with loss of power and uneven running, so check for those symptoms first. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0321 with poor starting and the engine speed sensor
Audi bulletin A0123032072326_1 covers an engine that starts poorly with the emission warning lamp on, engine speed sensor G28 and P0321. Our notes cover the 2023 to 2024 RS 3. We only read the NHTSA summary, not the full bulletin. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0321 when the engine speed sensor spacer is not required
Audi bulletin TSB-28-09-05 is titled MIL on, engine speed sensor spacer not required, and names P0321 among other codes. The summary mentions multiple misfires and a MIL that may be on or flashing. It covers some 2004 to 2008 A4 and 2005 to 2008 A6 models. Only the NHTSA summary was read, not the full bulletin. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0328 with a drive system malfunction message
Audi bulletin 2081342 provides information for a drive system malfunction message with knock sensor codes, including P0328, on V6 TFSI engines. Only the NHTSA summary was read, and it does not give the repair. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0411 from a cracked or broken vacuum hose
Audi bulletin 260702 says P0411, along with misfire and other air system codes, may come from a cracked or broken vacuum hose on 2000 to 2002 A8 and 2001 to 2002 A6. Check the vacuum hoses before replacing the air pump or valves. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0422 with the MIL on in the 2000 A6 and A8
Audi bulletin 0401 lists P0422 with the MIL on for the 2000 A6 and A8. Only the NHTSA summary was read, and it is the only detail we have. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0432 with the warning light on on some Audi models
Audi bulletin 0401 covers the malfunction indicator light on with catalyst efficiency codes including P0432 stored in DTC memory. Our notes cover some 2000 model year Audi cars. The summary does not give the repair. We only read the NHTSA summary, not the full bulletin. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0491 from carbon in the secondary air ports
Audi bulletin A011383 covers P0491 stored together on the 2009 to 2012 A4, A6, Q5 and Q7, with the MIL on. It says carbon can build up in the secondary air ports in the cylinder head and restrict flow, on cars over 15,000 miles. We only read the NHTSA summary. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0491 on the 4.2 FSI
Audi has a repair authorization covering P0491 on the 4.2 FSI engine in some Audi models. The NHTSA summary gives no repair details. Only the NHTSA summary was read, not the bulletin itself. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P0706 from a reaction between the fluid and the transmission computer
Audi bulletin 2034863 covers a gearbox warning with P0706 on the 2012 to 2013 A6 within a VIN range, caused by a reaction between the transmission computer and the fluid. Audi requires a fluid flush before the transmission computer is replaced, so do not start by buying a new computer. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P2015 from the changeover valve on 2.0 TFSI engines
Audi bulletin 2072273 covers P2015 with changeover valve N316 on 2.0 TFSI models, including the 2021 to 2024 A3. Check that valve first. The bulletin is published on NHTSA, but we have not confirmed it is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P2015 from a sticking intake flap on the Audi A6
Audi bulletin 2030192 covers P2015 on the 2007 to 2010 A6, caused by an intake manifold flap that sticks because of a deformed oil seal. Check for a sticking flap linkage before replacing sensors. We only read the NHTSA summary, not the full bulletin. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P2187 from an intake air leak
Audi bulletin 2015505-10 ties P2187 and a system too lean at idle to an intake air system leak, with a possible whistle or air-rushing noise. It also mentions oil leaks. It covers A3, A4 and TT models from 2005 to 2010, and we read only the NHTSA summary. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P2440 and P2442 from a combi valve or the vacuum solenoid
Audi bulletin A011519 says P2440 and P2442 on some 2011 to 2015 Audi models with secondary air injection come from either a combi valve on one bank or the vacuum solenoid that drives both. Which codes are stored, one bank or both, points to which part has failed. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P2600 among coolant pump circuit codes on the A6
Audi bulletin A9723952070557_1 lists the coolant pump circuit code, written in a longer hex format, among codes that light the check engine lamp on the 2023 A6. The NHTSA summary does not give the repair, so check the coolant level and the pump wiring and connector first, and read all stored codes together. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P2711 with a lit gear display and shudder
Audi bulletin 2029069 covers a lit gear display in the cluster and a shudder on first acceleration from a stop, with a fault entry logged in the transmission computer including P2711, on some Audi models. We only have the NHTSA summary, not the bulletin itself. Note when the shudder happens, such as on the first pull away. We have not confirmed the bulletin is still current, so this is labelled vehicle data rather than confirmed by bulletin.
P2753 with transmission malfunction messages on the A6
A 2012 Audi A6 owner complaint on NHTSA reports repeated transmission malfunction messages with P2753 and a coolant leak dripping onto the transmission wiring. The source is owner reports, not a bulletin or a confirmed repair.
P2753 with a transmission cooler valve circuit open
A 2012 A7 owner complaint to NHTSA reports P2753 as an open circuit in the transmission fluid cooler valve. The coolant control valve for the transmission was replaced because coolant leaked into the solenoid. This is an owner report only and needs testing to confirm.
P2753 with no hot air from the vents
A 2013 Audi A8 owner told NHTSA that P2753 came with no hot air from the vents, and that coolant leaked through the control valve into the wiring and connector and corroded it. This is one owner narrative. The source is owner reports, not a verified repair.
