U2107: On Chevrolet and other GM vehicles with the GMLAN network, U2107 means the engine control module lost communication with the body control system

GM lost communication with body control module

U2107 in short

On Chevrolet and other GM vehicles, U2107 means the engine control module lost contact with the body control module. A GM bulletin lists it with power steering codes on 2005-2008 Cobalt and HHR models, and owners report lost steering assist. Have a dealer diagnose it soon; do not just clear it.

GM modules talk over a network. When the engine control module stops hearing the body control module, it stores U2107. The code names the missing link, not the failed part.

GM bulletin 07-02-32-007 lists U2107 with U2105 and several steering codes for a 2005-2008 Cobalt and HHR whose power steering stops working. A Corvette owner read U2100, U2105, U2107 and U2108 together with service messages after a recall repair, and a Cobalt owner reports lost power steering and the car losing power.

This page speaks only for Chevrolet; Ford also lists U2107 with a failure-type suffix in its own bulletins, but this page does not cover it.

Pick your make

U2107 is a manufacturer-specific code: its meaning depends on who built the car.

Other makes: meaning not verified. Check with a scan tool that reads manufacturer definitions.
