P0846: Transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch B range or performance
Fluid pressure sensor B range/performance
Severity: Inspect soon
A pressure sensor that reads wrong can cause harsh shifts, slipping or limp mode, and Nissan's CVT judder bulletin lists this code, so check it soon.
It gets more serious if:
- Stop: Treat as Stop if the transmission slips badly, will not move or is in limp mode.
P0846 in short
P0846 means the transmission fluid pressure sensor or switch B reading is out of range. TroubleCodes.net lists the sensor, wiring, a control module needing a reflash and internal damage. Nissan lists it with CVT judder on 2013-2017 Sentra and Versa. Check fluid and bulletins soon.
A fluid pressure sensor reports internal transmission pressure to the computer. If the reading does not make sense for what the computer commanded, P0846 sets.
Causes in references include the sensor itself, wiring, a control module that needs a reflash, dirty fluid, a pressure solenoid and internal damage. Bulletins include Nissan NTB17-034k (CVT judder, Sentra, Versa, Versa Note), Subaru 18-241-26 (corrected CVT diagnostics) and Chrysler 2100905.
Fluid and bulletins come before parts.
