P2C90: Crankcase ventilation hose A disconnected
P2C90 crankcase ventilation system, hose A disconnected
Severity: Inspect soon
Toyota GR Corolla owners with this code report limp mode, all-wheel drive dropping to front-wheel drive and driver-assist systems switched off until restart, so it should be checked soon.
P2C90 in short
P2C90 means the computer thinks a crankcase ventilation hose, hose A, has come off or is leaking. Chrysler lists it that way and Ford ties it to the PCV system on the 2024 F-150 PowerBoost. Check the PCV hoses and ask about a software update. GR Corolla owners report limp mode.
The positive crankcase ventilation system pulls crankcase gas back into the intake. The computer watches crankcase pressure and sets P2C90 when it concludes a vent hose has come apart.
FCA names the code as Crankcase Ventilation System, Hose A Disconnected and issues PCM updates for it on the Wrangler, Wagoneer and Ram 1500. Ford's bulletin for the 2024 F-150 PowerBoost says to inspect the PCV system and reprogram the PCM.
On the 2025 GR Corolla, four owners report P2C90 with limp mode and driver aids off. Dealers found nothing in the PCV system, and one owner says the code returned after a Toyota ECU update.
Most likely causes
Cause 1: Crankcase vent hose loose, cracked or off
Supported by vehicle data- Why it ranks here
- FCA names the code as hose A disconnected and Ford says to inspect the PCV system. GR Corolla dealers inspected and found nothing, so a visible hose fault is not always the answer.
- What would change this
- Rises if a hose is off, split or oily at a connection. Falls if the hoses are sound and the code returns.
Cause 2: Powertrain computer software that needs updating (some models)
Supported by vehicle data- Why it ranks here
- FCA flash updates for the Wrangler and Ford's F-150 PowerBoost bulletin both include a PCM update for P2C90.
- What would change this
- Rises if a dealer finds your VIN covered and the software old. Falls if the software is current and the code returns.
