B1134: Front left side airbag module circuit open (Nissan and Infiniti)

Driver seat side airbag open circuit

B1134 in short

On Nissan and Infiniti, B1134 means the airbag computer sees an open circuit to the front left (driver seat) side airbag. Nissan bulletins point to a connector that is not fully attached. That side airbag may not deploy, so have a dealer check it soon.

The airbag computer checks the firing circuit of each side airbag. B1134 is the open-circuit result for the front left side module, shown in Nissan bulletins as "Side module LH (open)".

Nissan bulletin NTB-09-064 for the 2007-2008 Quest describes the connector of the front left side airbag module not attached to the rear riser, with no visible damage. A 2005 Pathfinder, Xterra and Frontier bulletin and an Infiniti G35 bulletin cover the same open circuit code.

Nissan warns that airbags and pretensioners can still deploy with the ignition off, so this is dealer work.

Pick your make

B1134 is a manufacturer-specific code: its meaning depends on who built the car.

Other makes: meaning not verified. Check with a scan tool that reads manufacturer definitions.

Most likely causes

  1. Cause 1: Side airbag connector not fully attached or poorly connected

    Supported by vehicle data
    Why it ranks here
Nissan NTB-09-064 names a disconnected front left side airbag connector as the cause of B1134 on the 2007-2008 Quest, and the tat.net.au preview lists seat connectors and yellow SRS connectors as typical failure points.
    What would change this
Rises if a technician finds the connector loose or partly out. Falls if the connector is tight and the circuit is still open.
  2. Cause 2: Damaged seat harness or side airbag module

    Possible — needs testing
    Why it ranks here
The circuit is open, so a broken wire or module is possible, but no page I read names it as a confirmed cause for B1134.
    What would change this
Rises if the connector is fully seated and the circuit still reads open.

What to test first

Start at step 1. Each result tells you what it means and where to go next.

  1. Step 1: Have a Nissan or Infiniti dealer read the SRS codes and check the front left side airbag connector and harness with the service manual procedure.

Warning:Never probe airbag connectors or wiring with a test light or meter, and never unplug them yourself. Nissan warns that airbags and pretensioners can still deploy after the ignition is off. Leave this to a dealer or trained technician.
