U1000 on Pontiac
Manufacturer code: on Nissan and Infiniti a module saw an error on the CAN network; on older GM vehicles it is a Class 2 serial data fault
Severity: Inspect soon
Nissan and GM bulletins and dealer readouts link U1000 to no-crank or no-start, limp mode and a shifter locked in Park, so get it diagnosed soon even if the car drives normally.
It gets more serious if:
- Stop: Stop in a safe place and have the car towed if it loses power or goes into limp mode while moving, or will not stay running. Nissan owners report a Murano stuck near 20 mph with U1000.
- Stop: Stop if the brake pedal sinks or the brake warning comes on. On a 2015 Leaf, U1000 in the ABS module came with a failed intelligent brake unit.
