P1E00 on Chevrolet
Chevrolet Volt: a hybrid control module has stored its own fault codes and is asking the engine computer to turn on the check engine light
Severity: Inspect soon
On the Chevrolet Volt, owners and GM bulletins link P1E00 to charging faults and to battery control module failures that can reduce or cut drive power, so get the other module's codes read soon.
It gets more serious if:
- Stop: Stop driving somewhere safe and arrange a tow if a "Propulsion Power Reduced" message appears, the car loses power, or it will not start. Owners report this happening at highway speed, and NHTSA investigated loss of motive power on 2016–2019 Volts.
This page covers only what differs on Chevrolet. For what P1E00 means, the ranked causes and the test order, see the P1E00 guide.
