P1500 on Lincoln
Vehicle speed sensor signal intermittent (Ford, Lincoln)
Severity: Inspect soon
On Ford and Lincoln, P1500 means the speed signal is cutting in and out. The transmission and speedometer rely on it, so shifting can go wrong without warning. Have it diagnosed soon.
It gets more serious if:
- Stop: The transmission downshifts hard on its own, the speedometer drops to zero while moving, or the rear wheels skid or lock. Owners report sudden highway downshifts with P1500 on 6R80 trucks. Pull over safely and have it towed or checked.
