P1320 on Nissan
Nissan and Infiniti: the engine computer is not seeing the expected ignition primary signal back from the ignition coils
Severity: Inspect soon
On Nissan and Infiniti, P1320 means the ignition primary signal is not coming back as expected, which Nissan ties to ignition coils. The engine may run fine, but a failing coil can cause misfire or detonation, so have it checked soon.
It gets more serious if:
- Stop: The check engine light starts flashing. That means misfire heavy enough to overheat and damage the catalytic converter; avoid further driving and get it checked.
- Stop: The engine stalls or will not restart. A crank sensor or primary circuit fault can cut ignition entirely; do not keep driving a car that stalls.
