C1963 on Ford
Stability control inhibit warning, stored in the ABS module (Ford)
Severity: Inspect soon
With C1963 the ABS module has turned stability and traction control off and lit their warning lights, so the car will not correct a skid. Normal braking is not affected by this code alone. The fault behind it can be serious, so get it diagnosed soon.
It gets more serious if:
- Stop: Steering suddenly becomes heavy or a Power Steering Assist Fault or Service Power Steering Now message appears. Loss of steering assist raises crash risk, especially at low speed. Pull over safely and have the car inspected before driving on.
- Stop: The red BRAKE warning light also stays on with the parking brake released. Ford says normal braking may then be affected and the brakes need servicing immediately.
