B2278 on Mazda
Steering shaft torque sensor fault (Ford, Mazda)
Severity: Inspect soon
Ford's recall for this fault says the steering system may remove power assist, making the car harder to steer at low speed and raising the risk of a crash.
It gets more serious if:
- Stop: Stop driving and arrange a tow or dealer visit if the steering suddenly becomes heavy or the power steering warning comes on while driving. Ford's recall says losing assist makes low-speed steering harder and raises crash risk.
